There is a video from children's medical hospital that goes into great detail about this. After watching the video and becoming thoroughly educated, I will not be storing my baby's cord blood with a private bank, but instead donating to a public bank for use. The private banks lied about what it can cure...please please check out the video and do not be swayed by there catchy advertising.

Can you still do cord blood banking if Delayed Cord Clamping is done?
-
I thought it would be a couple hundred a month.
-
I had not heard about this before I had my son so I'm kind of bummed about that. I'm not sure if this kind of service exists in my country, though.
-
It's interesting that you said you can do delayed clamping AND cord blood banking. From the information I got when I was pregnant, that's not the case here in the Netherlands. It's one or the other. My MIL, a professor of microbiology (her research is mainly leukemia related) actually advised us against banking blood. It really surprised me to be honest. Her opinion was that for-profit companies should never be trusted with such sensitive materials.

I've never heard about that before. Very interesting! Looking into in for when I decide to have children.
Come and take a look at my channel if you like. ThatsHollysWorld -
How could cord blood help austsum
-
I think you guys are doing a great thing by doing the Cord Banking. While I didnt have the money to do it with my children, I have known several that have done it and have needed it. I say its better to be safe then sorry. I am sure you have done your research and have chosen the best option for you and miss macey gaines. Your gonna be great parents and I cant wait to see what a blessing she is going to be when she finally arrives (not meaning she isnt already a blessing, cause she is).

I like the idea of cord blood banking but I believe in delayed cord clamping. I'm not sure you could do both.
-
I have a 15 year old newphew that has Autisum
-
I heard about it and I'm not a parent =)
-
In a lot of cases though cord blood is useless. If a disease is caused by genetics then the cord blood is useless as the blood contains the same genetic abnormalities.
-
I have a spinal cord injury and heard the when I have a child that if I cord blood bank that they could use it to maybe help for me to be able to walk again and I haven't walked since 2007 and I am now 18 and when the time comes it may be a good idea but by that time who knows but I am definitely thinking I will cord blood bank
-
I'm so happy to see the topic of delayed cord clamping being discussed in the comments :)
Research supports delayed cord clamping, although the medical community is always so slow and resistant to adapt to evidence based care.
I love seeing the information shared as part of the conversation regarding cord blood banking! -
Something that not a lot of people know either is that you can donate cord blood for free. I have donated with both my sons. The donation bank I gave to has told me that donors are put on a priority list if they are of need of cord blood in the future. Great option if you can't afford banking.

Great info

I've heard of cord blood banking, but I had never put much thought in it. It's still pretty pricey for my husband and me with the up front cost!

My daughter did the cord blood banking for her first child !
